History of Moreno Valley
Moreno Valley first had human habitation 2300 years before. When California was admitted to the US as a state in the 1850s, Americans moved into the area too. The city is named after Frank Brown and moreno is the Spanish word for brunette, derived from his last name. US States Air Force began the revival of Moreno Valley in 1918. A landmark moment in Moreno Valley’s history was when the March Air Force Base become March Joint Air Reserve Base under Air Force Reserve Command.
From the 1950s to the 1980s, Riverside International Raceway occupied the site of the Moreno Valley Mall. Races here include Go Karts and AMA motorcycle racing. During the 1980s, the city experienced growth.
Growth continued till the 1990s and Moreno Valley’s economy grew. Also called the Inland Empire, Moreno Valley is an inseparable part of California. Currently, Moreno Valley is home to around 200,000 residents and a new development was born in the 2000s.

People and Culture of Moreno Valley
Moreno Valley is the most rapidly growing city in California and it recorded a population growth of a massive 300% between 1980 and 1990. Major reductions in military and aerospace industries brought an abrupt halt to growth in the middle of the 1990s. Economic prospects of the city have improved since then and it has everything from an air cargo port to a university and state parks with recreational facilities.
